the outside now has color!

House update. The final coat of stucco ( texture & color) have finally been applied. The only thing the outside needs now is the light fixtures and electrical outlets, etc. Oh, you may also notice that the little cement patio has also been poured (by the sliding glass door). Can it be any smaller? It think the only thing that will fit on there is a welcome mat, and maybe a jumbo jet, but only if nothing else is on there too.

So... we're on our way! Today (hopefully as we speak) the tile guy is putting tile into the new master bathroom. That should be done after tomorrow (2 day process). Next we've got the cabinet guy (bathroom), then the fixtures, etc. inside, then the carpet and WE'RE DONE. OMG... this has taken soooooo long. I can't even imagine going through a 2nd story addition or something more MAJOR. Sheesh!

what's with all of the singing?

Ugh... it's like watching a train-wreck. I hate to admit it but I watch silly shows like "The Bachelor- London calling." I cringe when they start kissing and when the girls do stupid stuff to leave an impression in Matt's head.

OMG... I can't stand it, yet I continue to punish myself. I laugh at myself, out loud, while watching and cringe at these silly scenes. I hide my face and am so embarrassed to even look at them. Yet... I can't wait for the next show!

where else but in America...

Where else can you visit New York City and the Eiffel tower in a matter of minutes... but in Las Vegas Baby!

I went to Vegas as a last minute thing for Easter since hus is out of town for work. It was a laid back weekend... (except for the travelling thing- I hate waking up super early...). So, overall it was coolio. I'm back at work now and quite sleep deprived, but wanted to update the world... as if they care.

p.s. the pics are from my polaroid... just trying to give it some love before it goes extinct. Looking at the quality, it's no wonder they're doing away with it... other than the "artistic" aspect of having that polaroid look... it doesn't have much else to offer.

Happy Good Friday

In honor of Good Friday... I am going to make an effort to be more upbeat and positive, despite what I believe to be some really rough things going on in my life. Maybe a positive demeanor will do me some good. I've already started working out more and I didn't even wait until {be}Good Friday to start.

Some other goals include:
-get going on some craftiness for CCPW
-utilize more Polaroid love before it goes away for good.
-simplify. simplify. simplify.
-think happy thoughts.

I can only handle 4 right... baby steps.

oh, p.s. I just want to clarify what happened to spur my last post. You see... my friend Jean and I share a love for garden gnomes. We both have this little guy that may seem familiar to you b/c he's from the Travelocity commercials. Anyway... he's been in my garden for a couple of years now and he's weathered looking and faded, but I still adore him and always carefully decide where he will stand every time I plant new flowers in my garden bed. Well, the other day I came home to find him on the ground, broken in half. That day I got my normal mail, but also a package from UPS. I can only assume that it was one of these two delivery people that knocked him over in the midst of their daily scurry to get their jobs done in a timely fashion. What gets my goat is that they probably didn't even bother to turn around or think for a minute to leave a note (to apologize) or at least pick him up and put him back in the flower bed. I mean, although these people are strangers to me (technically not my post-man, if he in fact was on duty that day, he's friendly and we've chatted at length on many an occasion), they are a step above COMPLETE strangers because they KNOW. WHERE. I. LIVE. As my friend Donna said, I was VIOLATED!!! (she only used one exclamation point). Anyway... I'm sure I will just glue him back together. The silver lining is that he's only broken into two pieces, not too hard to glue back together. He will now have a battle wound, but he won't complain. He's cool that way. In the meantime, Mr. Postman (I will be having a chat with you this summer, I am sure of it) and Mr./Mrs. UPS person... don't forget Karma and what it can do to you. Don't be surprised if one day you find a flaming bag of dog poo in your mailbox (not my doing... KARMA'S doing!).

Gnomicide

San Diego, CA - A gnomicide was reported this afternoon on a porch in the residential area of Nelson St. The responsible party went unnoticed and is still on the lam. Evidence suggests that either the UPS or the Post man will become the leading suspects in this crime. The victim, a 12 inch gnome, keeper of the flowers, was found lifeless when the owner of the house returned from work this afternoon. The authorities were called to the scene immediately to tape off and photograph the crime-scene in order to preserve evidence. If you have any information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the killer, please call crime-stoppers at 1800-555-1212.

shit slinging monkeys and kick-boxing

So the room addition is coming along nicely... it's been a great distraction from the hell that is my life. The drywall is up and mudded, and the exterior has been laid, still waiting for the final layer (colored layer) of stucco to be applied... then the outside will be DONE. So the door guy tells us we have to paint so that he can come in and put in the doors... he also tells us that if we buy and paint some moulding, he will put that up for us as well. So last weekend we bust our asses trying to primer and paint the master bedroom, the walk-in closet and the bathroom. OMG... it SUCKED... there is NO way we were going to finish in two days! We gave it our all and got it primered and the first coat in the master. We actually got the whole bathroom and closet done. Easy since it was all white (ceilings and walls) and there was no worrying about the edges, etc. The master will have cream walls, with a french blue accent wall, and a white ceiling... thus the pain in the ass with the different colors right next to each other...edging and all.... AGH!

So, we're on a roll and so Monday rolls in. The freaking "door" guys basically messed up every wall in the master... so apparently we have shit slinging monkeys as contractors... HELLO??? YOU ARE IN THE DETAIL PART OF THIS PROJECT YOU GORILLA'S... DON"T JUST BANG AROUND LIKE IT'S NOTHING. So... now we have to re-do the walls... and by adding the doors and the moulding the guy also has to remud parts of the walls, due to the frame, etc. SO WHY IN THE HELL DID HE TELL US TO PAINT IF HE KNEW HE WOULD BE MESSING THINGS UP??? GO FIGURE! So, we are re-painting and fixing the damage done by he SSM's.

We picked out tile for the bathroom and carpet for the rest of the room/closet. We checked out fixtures and cabinetry for he bathroom too. So, there IS a light at the end of the tunnel. A far, distant, glimmer of light.. that fades in and out from time to time, but exists... even if only in my imagination.

So... since it has been decided that I am at maximum capacity... I have taken up kick-boxing at a local gym. I have only committed myself to one month of this, just in case I hate it or just get lazy again. I figure this will also help with the rage inside my head... punching on a helpless bag of whatever it is inside those things instead of punching people that make me mad. It's cheaper than getting myself out of jail.

lights are on but nobody's home...

Dear readers (all 2 of you, I'm sure),

Do not take it personally if I don't return your calls and/or emails for awhile. I am shutting down all systems for personal reasons, and this includes Cotton Candy Paperworks. I'm not suicidal (yet) so don't worry... but I do have to take some time to have my own little mental break-down. I will be back and eventually so will CCPW, but until then I just want to disappear.

Thanks for caring,
Christine
