whoa... that was my 100th post... were you counting?

I'm sure you weren't... I don't blame you.  Anyway, on with today's post...
Considering this was a "short" week, it sure seemed long to me.  Ugh... it's that whole I've gotta go to work thing.  Ya know, it's one thing when your job involves cleaning out porta potties, or shoveling shit all day, but I get to go in to a nice building with AC (sometimes on too high or off at the wrong times but still) and most of the time I like what I do (crunch numbers, solve problems- it feeds the left side of my brain).  Now, don't get all confused, I would still SO MUCH RATHER do something creative in order to make money... but so far I can't find that dream job to pay the bills.  So it's NOT the work I do, I guess its more of I HATE THE BULLSHIT that goes on at work that makes my life MISERABLE.  Bosses that intentionally have to be difficult because they can.  Jumping through loops.  Red tape.  Just BULLSHIT politics.  Way too much work with not enough people and the answer I got yesterday when I stated that the reason things are not going smoothly with our projects is because we have too many launching at the same time and it is not humanly possible to be perfect on all of them in the time we've been given to execute and I am told "find a way to do your job faster then!"  That's the fucking answer I get when I ask for help?  Yeah lady... even Superman would find it rough.  So I turn away saying "O.....K..." log onto my computer and search "monster.com."  So you see... it's not the actual work, it's the quantity of it (and you can ask  Jean, I am a work-horse!) and the amount of time we have to do it in (and don't even tell me to work more hours or I will jump through this computer and punch you in the face).  I already sacrifice a lot to stay at work when I should be out running or having fun for God sakes.  Life is too short for this SHIT.  When I am dying in a hospital bed one day, I guarantee you that I will NOT be wishing that I had worked more hours.  I will be wishing that I had painted more pictures, snapped more pictures, had more picnics, ran more races... and the list goes on.

That was my rant.  Sorry you had to listen to that.  Yuck!

So on to other news...
I went to see Dean Karnazes and the movie someone made about him.  Talk about inspiring and talk about nice legs... OMG!!!

and well, he isn't so bad himself....

and ya wanna know what Dean says?  He says to "Do what you love and love what you do."  He quit his stoopid corporate job and started running.  Not winning races, just running for the fun of it because he loves to run.  I think Dean is on to something.

Have a nice Saturday... and Wooo Hooo.. Enjoy this sonofabitch, won't you?

close... but no cigar!

Do you guys recognize that hot guy in the blue shirt in the stands?  Not the gross one on the right, but the one that looks like he is praying on the left.  Yeah, the one praying that the idiot outfielder catches the damn ball instead of letting the other team score 2 runs.  Oh well... at least Tones got on the front page of the sports section in the San Diego Union Tribune

In other news... I am watching Monday's showing of the Bachelorette.  Gosh... why do I continue to watch this gay show?  I cringe watching the cheesy guys... ugh.  So far there is one singer in the group.  What. Is. Up. With. The. Singing?  SHUT UP!!!!   And... they are all (so far) just so STUPID.  I'm sure they'll all get better after consuming massive amounts of alcohol.

And, finally, I am cruising right along on my 1st quilt.  Once I got all of the fabric picked out and cut, the sewing part is easy peasy.  I've got a class on Saturday, so I'm trying to get ahead a bit by doing the easy stuff so I can concentrate on the hard stuff.

Tomorrow is hump day and the *long* weekend is right around the corner.

Shout outs to an old pal Cary, we WILL do what we dream to do and to Jason... dude... it will happen for us both!

drumroll please...

So here you have it... the "after" pictures of the big remodel.  I can't believe it is FINALLY done.  Whew... that took FOREVER!!!  The room is so big that is it difficult to give you the *true* before and after shots... the before room had weird angles to the entrance, so it was hard to really describe how fucked up it was.  These pictures do not do the room justice either.  However, just trust me when I say it ROCKS!!!  As those of you that own homes know... a house is a never ending "work-in-progress."  This translates into, now the rest of the house looks like dooky and we have to fix that.  We have now painted what will be the nursery (one day, don't get your panties in a twist- this is not some secret code of an announcement) and are in the process of ripping out the disgusting carpeting that we walk on.  We are pleasantly surprised to find the original, hardwood, parkay (sp?) flooring underneath to be in decent shape.  Decent enough for us to get 'er fixed up and consider 'er a keeper!

We also are working with our gardener to fix our landscaping.  It's a total crack-up b/c when it was just mediocre grass, all he cared about was cutting it and getting his cash.  Now that he is "taking ownership" of the landscaping, he's all about doing it *all*.  It's cute, really.  The front lawn kicks ass... for California standards.  No one out here really appreciates a nice {green} lawn.  That's the Michigander in me furiously watering everyday to keep a green lawn when everyone else has succumbed to the desert climate and has planted a "rock lawn."  WTF is that?  Can you imagine playing on a slip n' slide on THAT lawn?  No way Pedro!  Anyway... our back yard is not yet complete, so when that project is finished, I will post pics.  Again, by California standards, our back yard is HUGE.  By Michigan standards, the backyard is more the size of a deck...  however, I have adjusted and I will take my *HUGE* {green} backyard and one day tell my children wild stories of lavish rolling hills that I once called "the backyard."

Last night was our "Budget Gourmet."  I feel that it was fairly successful.  I'm sure my guests may disagree... tough!  I ended up settling on a sushi making party.  Each couple had to make 4 rolls of the same recipe for us to sample.  Later we had a small contest to select "recipe."  Joyce & Ruben won, deservedly so... with the fabulous presentation and rolls that actually stayed rolled.  I think I just bought myself an evening of baby-sitting too (the prize was 2 movie tix).  I don't mind, their kid is cool.  And they just got "Guitar Rock-Star" (or whatever it's called), so the kid and I can ROCK OUT while the parents are out.

Next... I'm desperately trying to finish the DingDing* scrapbook prop.  I hate that I have procrastinated.  We are shooting next weekend, so I have no choice but to finish today.

*This is an Indy film I have a few small parts in.  I am portrayed as the "Scrapbooking nut job."
Once the film in complete and all that biz, I will show n' tell.

Baby Mama

Went and saw this film a few days ago. It was cute. I left the show wanting to know more... see more... as in... does Tina Fey marry that dude? I doubt there will be a BM2, it didn't have *that* kind of ending... but being a chick, I wish they went more into Tina's and that dude's (I'm so bad with names, sorry) relationship. It probably would've added another hour to the movie, but SO?

Anyway... if you're a chick, I bet you'd like it. Poor girl had a "T" shaped uterus. I get to go see my uterus on tv today. I hope it's not "T" shaped.

Flex day.

I'm off from work today. It's this thing we call "flexing." I have to work extra hard for 9 days in order to earn this one day off. It may seem like a deal, but the man is really the one getting the deal. Whatev. Not gonna focus on that bullshit today. No way. Today is about getting some shit done. Right now I'm waiting for the plumber to come on over and finish up installing fixtures in our new kick-ass, luxury suite of a bathroom... I'm also waiting for a return call from the doctor's to schedule some lame appointment, where I will inevitably be left in pain in order for them to check out my business... all for a good cause my friends, all for a good cause. I have an extra long to do list just waiting to get checked off and then I go bowling. You heard me. Bowling. I'm from Michigan man, and that's what we do. Believe it or not, bowling is pretty popular out in Cali too, minus the dense fog of smoke lingering in the low-light alley. Love that part... the no smoking laws. We may be the home of fruits and nuts, but I can breathe!
Embrace the day and GO!

Happy Birthday to ME, ME, ME, ME, me meeeee

I am pretty in love with my birthday. I think everybody should celebrate their birthdays, regardless of how how you are. The day is all about ME. Those that know me know that I can be pretty outgoing and the "clown" of the moment... mostly because I love making people laugh. What I DON'T LOVE is being the center of attention. This is a huge misnomer of mine... just because I like to joke around and be loud and make people laugh and jump up on a table in the middle of a restaurant belting out a few bars of "Killing me Softly" does not mean I like to be the center of attention. If it were up to me, I would take all of the lovely gifts and cards I get from the great people that like me and lock myself up in my room and open them and ooooh and awwwww about them in the privacy of my own, newly remodeled room. Whew.

Unfortunately my birthday is on a Thursday this year and I didn't plan far enough ahead of time to TAKE THE DAY OFF OF WORK (duh) so I have to be here. The work peeps are going to gather in a group and give me a card and we will all sit there sharing some high sugar treat and I have to pretend that I am having fun. Yuck. Can't they just send me the card in an interoffice envelope? Isn't that what those stupid things are for? I don't even want cake. Can't they just give me some steak? So here I am, on a day that is supposed to me all about me and the things that I like and I have to be nice to people at work. Boo.

Good news is that I do have tomorrow off and I will secretly celebrate my birthday tomorrow... and do all kinds of birthday-y things and love it all.

All in all... it is still my birthday today and I will EnJoy whatever comes my way. Thanks to you peeps out there for all of the great birthday wishes.

p.s. I promise to post pics of the {almost} completed remodeled master suite. The goal was to have it ALL done by my birthday and I don't want to be a pessimist b/c while I am work, maybe the magic bathroom fixture gnome will install the 2nd sink (in the right color this time) while I am at work today.
